Today I decided it was time to change the front room a little. It has been red, white, and blue since Flag Day (June 14th) and I just wanted a little change. But... it's too hot outside to put up Fall Decor. I just couldn't put up colorful leaves and pumpkins when I felt like I was dying of heat exhaustion loading people in the car. So... I decided to go with a "back to school" theme. I had the girls help me with a lot of the decorations. We made apples!
First we used an apple to stamp some beautiful pictures. Noelle especially liked this activity. I think she stamped twice as many apples on twice as many pieces of paper. Melanie's favorite colors are pink and red (because of her hair) so she made the red apples. Noelle's favorite colors are green and purple, so it was fitting that she made the green apples.

Aren't they fun?

Next, I had the kiddos marble paint (with shaving cream and paint) on some apples I cut out while they were napping. I think they both loved this activity. They were both given 18 apples to paint, and Noelle had hers done in about half the time as Melanie. Melanie enjoyed feeling the shaving cream in her hands.

We had apples EVERYWHERE! :)

This is what they looked like after they were done. I love this method of painting. I have great plans for fall leaves being painted this way (with more than one color!)

Once again, Melanie did my red apples, Noelle did the green apples!

After the girls were done with their art projects, Mom got to do a little crafting of her own. I decided to make a little something to hang over my window with all these fun apples.

I think it turned out pretty nice.

I made this fun wreathe last week, but it definitely goes with my "back to school" decor.

And, of course, I had some fun artwork to frame and hang up.

And a ton more apples to use.

I'm already loving the change, but I think I need to figure out a few more little crafts for the girls and I to do with this theme. It's just too much fun!

Very festive. Yeah, there's no way I'm getting out fall decor until my A/C runs less than 1/4 of the day. At least. :)
