Wait.... What???

With kids, sometimes the picture really is worth a thousand words.  Somethings I just CAN'T make up.  Here are a few of our recent "wait... what???" moments.

Oliver was trying to get something out of time out:

St. Patrick's Day

St. Patrick's Day isn't for the faint of heart at the Smithson's house.  It's a hard core, get messy, be creative (and sneaky), fun affair.    It starts a few weeks before, when we start to think up our trap ideas and collecting materials.  Since we live in a small town, far away from craft stores, we actually started thinking up our traps early February, but that's besides the point.  After we think up the traps, we start painting and constructing...

The night before, we have to set the traps.  We had a variety of traps this year.  Noelle made a Leprechaun Hotel, Melanie had a box with bait under it and a stick that had a sign to push the stick to turn on a light, and Oliver made a slide with no bottom.  The idea is that the Leprechaun would go down and not be able to get back up. 

It appears that the traps ALMOST worked.  We were visited by 3 Leprechauns that left Skittles and notes. 

The kids have already decided on alterations they plan to make for next year.  I think we might actually get one!  Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Some March Fun!

Here are some fun pictures from the rest of March.

Melanie is quite the little artist, in fact, it's one of the things she wants to be when she grows up (up there with cutting hair and flying airplanes).  Here is a fun picture she drew and colored of a mermaid and a crab.  I think the crab is my favorite part.

This is what my mornings typically look like.  It's a little blurry, so I'll describe the scene... my dishes, their fake food.  Yep!

Both the girls participated in a fun dance fundraiser at Delta High School.  They were in a dance that a huge group of girls preformed together.  It was so much fun for the girls, and entertaining for us.  They got these cute shirts as a souvenir of the fun event. 

Here is the group in action.  It was a LOT of girls!  They danced to a mix of Disney Songs: Frozen, Tangled, Lilo and Stitch, and then Frozen again.  Each age group had their own little bit, and then they all danced the Frozen song at the end.

Oliver loves the Museum of Ancient Life at Thanksgiving Point.  It is his pick every time he gets to choose.  Well, he got to choose in March!  Here are a few pictures from that trip!

Oh NO!!!

Preston started walking in March!  It was exciting stuff!!!  He loved walking around the museum.

March was a blast, and just like that, it was over!  Golly!!!  I will post pictures from St. Patrick's Day shortly.

Do you Want to Build a SnowMan?

Okay, confession time...  We are from Arizona.  We didn't know what this white stuff was when it fell from the sky, and we definitely did not know how to play with it.  We tried.  Believe me, we tried.  But seriously, how does one build a snowman?  So, we went through the entire winter trying to make a snowman, in vain, several times.  

Then, we had this random "freak" snow storm in March.  It was a good one too.  Snow stuck to the street even.  That afternoon, Noelle was outside playing in the snow.  Our neighbor was walking by and asked Noelle why she wasn't making a snowman, and Noelle informed her that she didn't know how.  So, Sister Spence (our neighbor)  remedied that problem!  They built a snowman.  Soon, we were all outside helping.  We built a snowman.

Oliver was in love!  He had to hug it!

Then we had to test our skills without Sister Spence's help!

Even the small of the smalls got out on this (though his hands weren't covered, so I didn't let him in the snow)

 We built 3!  It's a whole snow family!

Now we know how to build snowmen!  We will be ready for next winter!!!

Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss

March is a fun month.  There are so many holidays!  Dr. Seuss's Birthday, Pi Day, and St. Patrick's Day!  My kids think it's awesome, and so do I.  Here are some pictures of our birthday party for Dr. Seuss.

First, we had to decorate.  We added Truffula Trees, Polka Dots, and a "Happy Birthday" Banner to our kitchen.  It was way too cool.

 Then we had to get the food right.  Green Eggs and Ham, and Pink Ink Drink (and then a few extras to make it balanced.

And, of course, we needed party hats!

Then, in honor of the great author, we read some of his books.

And then ate some Thing 1 and Thing 2 cupcakes!

February Subtitles!

February came and went, but I couldn't let it go without checking out the pictures.  These made me smile.  Enjoy!

Oliver is getting pretty tricky with his Lego creations.

So, that wasn't very detailed, but February kind of flew up!
