Mermaid Tails and Party Balloons

December is here, and in our house, that means BIRTHDAYS! For Melanie and Noelle, that means mermaid birthday parties (because that is what they have been talking about since December of last year). Since I just had Mr. Oliver 3 weeks ago, I decided that I would give in and throw the birthday party, as long as it was low key and combined. But, of course, I was putting the girls to work.

Here they are making their own birthday cupcakes (mean mom, right?)

How mean can I be? I let them crack the eggs.
Then, once the cupcakes were made and sufficiently decorated (this was tricky because Melanie had magnificent ideas, and Mom had no energy or desire to fulfill such large requests, therefore compromises were in order), we headed to the Falcon Field Park to meet up with some friends and celebrate!
Melanie and Noelle are lucky little girls. They have so many friends that love them and that were able to come celebrate this happy day with them.

Eventually it was cupcake time. I think this picture says what words can not about how excited the girls were.

It was a little windy and we weren't able to light the candles. I'm sure we will try again ON their birthdays. In the meanwhile, they didn't mind. Their were mermaid tails on their cupcakes and that seemed to be the most important part anyhow. (And they were edible. Can't forget that part)

Yum! I didn't think about it until everyone was eating... but the blue frosting made everyone look like smurfs. :)

Love that face, Lacey!

Looking Good Noelle!

After cake, the kids washed up and played some more.

Then they opened gifts. The girls were spoiled with a lot of fun girlie things. They were (are) in seventh heaven.

I'll be honest, the opening of presents with two girls at the same time turned out to be extra chaotic and I didn't get to see who gave them what. I don't even know if they were able to thank everyone for what they got. (sigh). But I know that they love ALL of their gifts. THANK YOU for everyone that was able to come. I know they really appreciated having so many friends come and celebrate with them. They are still talking about their fun day. With the new baby, they haven't been out much, so it was that much MORE exciting and special to them.

I was crazy for throwing Clara a party when I was 9 months pregnant. I'm pretty sure throwing a party with a 3 week old is crazier. :) Mom of the year, woooo!
