Melanie and Mommy Date: Cinderella

Melanie and I got to go on an extra special date today. Melanie dressed up as a princess and we went to the Hale theater to see Cinderella.

Before the show, Melanie was excited, but a little nervous (probably a result of a few not so small and not so quiet actors that were entertaining the crowd.)
She did think this actor was beautiful and wanted to say hi to her.

Once the play started, Melanie was mesmerized. It was a really neat play. The theater is really small and there isn't a bad seat in the house. Because it is small, the actors use the isles and pretty much every inch they can. Being a kids production, it was very interactive. The fairy god mother had the crowd use their wands (I just so happened to make Melanie one before we left) to help cast spells. It was really something.

After the production, we got pictures with everyone we could. Here Melanie is with the Fairy God Mother

This is the Queen. Melanie was a little nervous getting her picture taken with the Queen. I think it's the tall hair.

Here is Melanie with the ugly Step Sisters and Step Mother. They were much nicer in person than in the play. Melanie especially liked their silly clothing.

We had to stand in a line to see the last 3 people. Here is Melanie with the handsome prince. She has decided that Daddy is much more handsome. Smart girl.

Here she is with the beautiful Cinderella.

And with Rover, Cinderella's puppy. Melanie was really freaked by this one. She did not want to get near him. But... he gave her a stamp of a puppy paw on her hand and then she got to pet him. Eventually I talked her into a picture. I just knew if we didn't get the picture, she'd be upset about it all afternoon. I'm glad I did too, because that's all she talked about the rest of the date. She thought he was "cool".

Well, after the play, I asked Melanie what she wanted for lunch. She said "french fries and dip" (this is a rare thing for her to request). So, being that there is a lack of french fry places in Gilbert, we ended up at IHOP.

We had a blast. Melanie ended up asleep on the way home. She had so much fun, she was wiped out.

Thank you Melanie for a wonderful date!

So fun! That first actress is Laura - one of my sisters best friends and she taught at my kids preschool last year! She told me about this play, I'm glad you liked it so much. You're a sweet Mommy to make time for your daughter. I'm sure she felt very special!
