Science Experiment: Volcanoes with a Twist

Melanie and Noelle have both told me that their favorite thing to do with me is Science Experiments. Well, I love to do them too. I love to see them get all excited when something bubbles, or changes colors, or they learn something new. It is just too neat.

Well, here is a twist on the volcano experiment. It uses vinegar, food coloring, and baking soda. Melanie saw me get these things out and was instantly excited. Then she saw me start pouring the baking soda on a cookie sheet, and she became confused. I love catching her off guard. Here are some pictures from our experiment:

Add a little colored vinegar, and you get little volcanoes. It's pretty neat. The kid really liked adding the vinegar themselves. They got to pick the color and the location and then giggled quite a bit after they "applied" it.

And the aftermath... if you ask me, it looks like Yellowstone.

Happy Experimenting!

I think one of my new year's resolutions is going to be do more science experiments. I love them but don't ever do them. Chalk that one up to laziness. :)
