Dinner Time, Game Time, Bed Time

So... dinner time/bed time has always been a little crazy. It seems like my house is always a whirl wind of a disaster by then... but we throw them into their booster seats to eat. Then they take FOREVER to eat. Then they take FOREVER to clean up, and by time it's all done, it's time to go to bed. Depending on whether or not Brandon is home for dinner, that also means, they really don't get quality time with him.

But this week I have changed something, and I think it may be my solution to this problem... at least, I hope so.

My new plan: Have the girls clean the house BEFORE dinner. (seems so silly and so easy... why didn't I think of this before). They clean faster because they are excited about eating dinner! Then we have dinner. After dinner, we wash up, put on our PJ's and then have family GAME TIME! Then, 15 minutes before bed time, we brush teeth, read scriptures, say prayers, read books and go to sleep!

We have done this 4 days in a row now, and WOW! what a difference. I'm not stressed trying to get everyone to help clean. The kids are happy because they just spent 30 minutes to an hour playing games or doing puzzles as a family. Seriously, it has been much more peaceful. I think everyone is much happier.

Our night times aren't crazy because we don't clean our house. Ha ha. BUT, I was actually thinking about this because growing up, we always cleaned in the morning. Mornings were always chaos. Realizing I was starting to do the same, just last night I decided I need to figure out how to get the house in order at night so the morning isn't crazy once Clara is in school. Thanks for the suggestion.
