The Temple

Wednesday was stake temple day.  I tried to find a sitter so that I could go to the temple and do a session, but no matter who I called, left messages with, asked, I just couldn't arrange it.  At first, I will be honest, I was frustrated.  But then I was determined.  I was still going to go to the temple, and if I couldn't find a sitter, well... then so were my kids!  I'm so glad that we went too, because I think it was a really good experience for everyone.  We enjoyed the spirit, the artwork, a movie, and each other.

And, on top of feeling the spirit, we found family!  I had NO IDEA that my Aunt Mary Louise and Uncle were on a mission here and serving at the temple!  (And they have been here for a year.  How come my family didn't think to tell me? )  I think it was inspired that I couldn't find a sitter.  The day couldn't have been better.
After enjoying the visitor's center, we toured the temple grounds.

Knowing that after we move, the nearest temple will be approximately 4 hours away has really humbled me.  How blessed I have been to live so close to the temple.  I plan to revisit with my children a few more times before we move.  We LOVE to see the Temple.

It wasn't until after I was married and attending the Temple that I realized how lucky I was to live 15 minutes from the Temple. That was 10 years ago, so lots has changed, but back then I didn't even think about people who lived 2 hours away that had to travel that long to get to the Temple. It humbled me a lot too. I hope a Temple is built closer to where you're going to live. When they announce it at Conference someday, we can all jump up and cheer that Camille will have a Temple close by : )

Oh and I will look around for a sub for you for Bunco. Can you still not come ?

It's always amazing to me how good it feels just to be on the temple grounds. Such a great spirit.
