Melanie Abigail Penrod

This is an older picture (about 2 years old) but I wanted to find one that showed sisterly love. Aw... Aren't they cute.  

Now, I have to tell this story.

The other day, I had a dental appointment.  I asked my friends (The wonderful Penrod Family) to watch the 3 older kiddos while I was at the dentist.  Preston was with dad.  When I was done, and it was time for the kids to come home, Shelby Penrod (the youngest of the family) was making Melanie a bracelet.  She really wanted to be able to finish, and Melanie really wanted to see it done, so Marcia (Shelby's mom) asked if she could just bring Melanie home when the girls were done.  I agreed.

I took Noelle and Oliver and headed to the car.

Oliver: "Where is Melanie?" (I load them in and jump into the driver's seat)

Me: "We are leaving her.  We are going to give her to the Penrods"  (obviously joking, but in a serious voice)

Silence

Noelle: "That's okay.  I have a picture of her at the house I can look at."

Oliver: "No!  I like Melanie.  She is my friend"

We drive home.  

(As we park the car) Noelle: "Melanie Abigail Penrod.  It sounds nice"

It was a few hours before Melanie came home.  Poor Melanie, Noelle was already coveting the room they share.  But I know that, in the end, Noelle would have really missed her sister.  We are really glad she came home.
