For the last... well, more than 2 months, Noelle has been complaining pretty much daily of a headache. I told the doctor at her annual wellness visit and he didn't seem to concerned because she didn't have any symptoms that would indicate something extra sinister at work. He sent us home with the agreement that if it were to get worse, we would need to let him know. That week she woke up with a head ache in the middle of the night and threw up 2 times. A few days later, she did again. And eventually it became a problem. I took her to twilight pediatrics one Thursday and waited (FOREVER) to have the on call doctor look at her. The doctor indicated that she was concerned that the headaches were getting worse, so she ordered a CAT scan and requested that we see a pediatric neurologist.
The next day was truly an example to me that my Heavenly Father knows me, my family, and our struggles. I woke up so sick! (Most likely caught by sitting in the waiting room for 3 hours the night before). I had a stomach flu that I will not go into details about, but just know that it wasn't something I could go far from the bathroom with, let alone leave the house. I got a call from the doctor's office around 10 telling me that the CAT Scan was scheduled for 2:30pm THAT DAY! I hung up with the lady on the phone really questioning how this was going to happen. In the meanwhile, a girlfriend called me for a reason that I honestly don't remember. While I was explaining that Noelle has had daily headaches and would need a CAT Scan, the thought came to me that she should get a blessing. Apparently it came to my friend as well, because she offered her husband up to give the blessing. By time the Brethren got to our house to give Noelle the blessing, I was feeling considerably better. I got a sitter and took Noelle to her appointment. I wasn't sick at all for the entire time. It was truly a blessing and gift to me. The CAT Scan it self was terrible. Poor Noelle was so scared that she screamed the entire time. Because she was screaming and fighting, they ended up strapping her down and still had to have someone HOLD her down the entire time. I had to hold her head in place. Lets just say that it took everything I had to not cry and scare her more. We finished the scan, came home, took the sitter home, and literally within a half hour of me getting home, I was extremely ill again, and down for the next 2 days. My mother in law took the kids (all 3 of them) all day Saturday, which was also an example of the love my Heavenly Father has for us. It's amazing.
Anyhow, after all that, it turned out that there is nothing wrong with Noelle that would show up on a CAT Scan (hooray!!!). I have her appointment with the neurologist scheduled for later this week. In the meanwhile, I had decided that I wanted to rule out poor vision. Both Brandon and I wear glasses and it wouldn't be a stretch to think our children would need them sometime in their lives as well. So, today I scheduled an appointment for Noelle at the optometrist. I knew that Noelle would be really nervous, as she pretty much HATES going to the doctor, so I made her a deal. If she did a really good job, I would take them to the merry-go-round at the mall. This is a huge deal, because I don't EVER take them on that thing. I get so incredibly sick on it, that it's just no fun. But the girls are always begging me and always disappointed. Noelle knew that this was something extra special for her, and she only needed one reminder during the appointment. She did an amazing job. The doctor said that she didn't see anything that would warrant Noelle constant headaches. Noelle shows early signs of astigmatism and has a slight prescription if I wanted to have something filled for her (I opted not to, because it was just a slight correction). Overall, Noelle's eyes are healthy! Hooray for that, but it still leaves me confused!
Here is my little girl, after her eye appointment! I wanted to get a picture of her wearing those huge "glasses" during the exam, but I didn't want to take pictures while the doctor was doing the exam, and the second the doctor left the room, Noelle needed instant love.
After the exam, we had lunch at the food court.
Then we rode on the merry-go-round. Ugh! I mean, YEAH! Oliver said "Ohhh!!" every time it went up and down. It was very cute.
After doing that, I was sick! We had to come home, and it literally took me 3 hours to get my stomach and head under control. I decided it was time for some "love" around this house. We decided to make some crystal hearts with borax and pipe cleaners. The girls look forward to checking out their hearts every day until they are ready!
And then we used some recycled toilet paper rolls to stamp hearts.
Finally we started our Valentines Cards. I can't show those to you though... because they are secret! I have an extra messy house tonight, but very happy children. So, in the end, I think today was a success!

Oh, my dear. I've been thinking a lot about you and how you're holding up. And to think all of this is thrown on your plate too...
So, I don't usually like to correct people, but I think you meant to say optometrist when you said you took Noelle to the obstetrician. That made me laugh. ;)
Poor Noelle....hope her head feels better. My kids get headaches and migraines while on their growth spurts...never fails. Maybe Noelle is the same?
I hate not knowing the reason of pain.
I hope the whole things ends soon:(
And agree about the merry go round. they make me sooooo dizzy.
