Fizzy Sidewalk Paint

This fun activity was an art project and science experiment in one. Check out the instructions here. I changed the recipe slightly to make less paint... in more colors. So, I did 1/4 cup baking soda, 1 Tblspn cornstarch, and 1/4 cup of water. I was guessing that was about 1/4th the original recipe. Then I added food coloring and paint, swept a spot off on the porch, and told the girls to get their paint shirts on. They was excited! (And to be honest, so was I!)

We had fun painting on the porch. Everyone (including daddy, who had stayed home from work sick and finally well enough to get out of bed) got involved.

Then we had to let the paint dry. This was perfect Popsicle time (especially because it was 100 degrees out there).

Then it was time for some fun... well, more fun, because really, painting the sidewalk was pretty fun. We sprayed vinegar on the dry paint and watched as it sizzled and fizzed. What a fun reaction. It's not the same effect as the volcano (which is the same reaction, just demonstrated differently), but it was still fun.

And the best part was that everyone got a chance at spraying.

Fun experiment! Fun times!

Fun! You spend way too much time with your family. How does Brandon get to do all these things with you guys?
