There is a primary song that says "I like my birthdays, every one. Each brings a greater joy to me..." This year's birthday was definitely a joy. I woke up early (my Melanie alarm clock went off at 5:20 am, no snooze button) and found this in my kitchen. I was so excited! My car radio was stole, and my house radio/CD player stopped working the same day about 3 or 4 months ago. This was traumatic for me and the girls because we listened to a lot of music before then. So, Brandon got me a portable CD player for my birthday, along with a few things for my circut. Very sweet! I opened it right away and put some fun kid music on for us. We were in 7th Heaven.

Then a few hours later, these gorgeous flowers came, from my dad and his wife Cam. This is a picture of total serenity. I took this while the kids were napping (which also makes it peaceful). The CD player was playing the soundtrack to "Pride and Prejudice" (a CD I had bought and received the day the radio stopped working, and never got to hear... it was worth the wait).

Aren't I a lucky woman?

We made the kids dinner and after they ate, we celebrated with cake. It's hard to see, but I made the candles say "2?" on the top.

I have already posted picture of the girls making my cake (previous post), so here are some pictures of them eating my cake. Yum!

I definitely spoiled my self this year. This cake has 4 layers (right to left): Chocolate cake, brownie, cheese cake, and chocolate cake. I made the best dark chocolate buttercream frosting in the world (or maybe just that I have ever had) and that's what's in between and on the top.

After cake, we put the kids to bed, and Brandon took me out for dinner and a movie. We saw the new X-Men movie and I really enjoyed it. Not having seen any previews (we don't have TV; therefore I have no clue what is coming out and what the trailers are like), I have to say, I didn't know what to expect. Perhaps that's the best way to go into a movie. I give it 2 thumbs up... and my birthday 5 stars!
Thanks to my family, for making it wonderful!
