Spooky Activities

It's the week of Halloween... Time for some spooky fun!

We made these fun ghosts a few days ago.  They were a lot of fun to make!  The messier it got, the better the result!  We loved it!

Then, for family home evening, we decided to get even messier, and decorate some spooky cookies.  Then we took a plate to our neighbors to share the fun.

Happy Halloween this week!  We hope to keep up the spooky fun all week!  Hope you do too!

Mama's Restaurant

Hello, Welcome to Mama's Restaurant. I'm mama! How many will there be tonight? 1 Adult and 2 children? Okay, follow me this way!
Yesterday I had the cutest little family come into my "restaurant". The girls colored on the coloring pages as I took their orders (from my menu of leftovers) and brought them their salads.
Even my kitchen crew (Oliver) thought they were a fun group.
It was a fun way to get rid of the leftovers. This is actually the second time we have done this, and the girls had been begging me to do it again. With all the random leftovers we had from last week, I felt it was a good time. The bill came to 8 Kisses and 7 Hugs, which I was paid and received a few extra hugs and kisses as a tip.
After dinner, we had a family home evening lesson on talents. We told the kid what a talent was and then listed talents each person has.
Melanie:
singing and making up songs, drawing pictures, writing
Noelle:
running, making people smile with her facial expressions, climbing
Brandon:
fixing cars, helping people without question, making things
Oliver:
smiling, making mom jump
Camille:
math, cooking, entertaining kids, and, according to Melanie, feeding Oliver.
Feeding Oliver was something I had never thought of before, but I suppose it is something that only I can do. Melanie really made me think about that one. Afterwards, we watched some fun family videos which displayed our different talents. It was a fun night.

FHE: We Are Thankful

Yesterday's Family Home Evening was on being Thankful. We read from the scriptures the story about the 10 Lepers that Jesus healed. In the story, found in Luke 17, verses 11-19, only 1 of the healed returned to thank Him. We talked about how important it is to say "thank you". Then we wrote down things that we are thankful for on paper. I helped Melanie and Brandon helped Noelle. Between the two girls, they came up with 77 things. We turn the papers into a thankful chain. It was fun (and pretty).
After the lesson, I caught Noelle planning the next FHE. (I taught the lesson while feeding a very hungry Oliver. Apparently Noelle thought it looked fun).
This is what Oliver was doing during the activity. :) I believe both girls listed him as something they were Thankful for. I would have to agree. I sure love this little man.

FHE: Tower of Babel

Yesterday, we had a fun Family Home Evening. I taught a lesson on following Heavenly Father's commandments. It is important to do so to return to live with Him again. I told the story about the people building a tower to get to heaven, and how that was not choosing the right. The story was complete with mom drawing stick people and a tower on a large construction document. Then we discussed ways we can follow Heavenly Father's commandments. It was a good, short lesson.

Then, to have a little fun, we decided to build an edible "tower of Babel". Obviously, we didn't want to reach heaven, but it was fun to see how high we could "climb".
5 cake bricks later, the tower fell.

It may have come tumbling down, but it still tasted pretty good.

It was a lot of fun. I can't wait for next Monday.
