Another Helper in the Kitchen

6 hands in the kitchen are better than 4. At least that's what I thought when I got an extra helper making cookies on Sunday. Noelle is finally big enough to help.

Both girls got turns putting all the ingredients into the pot.
(I love the following picture, too cute!)
And both girls got a turn mixing.
Even mom got a turn.
Thank you girls, you were both great helpers.
(Just in case anyone is concerned that I have them at the stove, the stove wasn't actually on yet. I did let them see what it looked like while it was boiling, but in a way that ensured they didn't get burnt. Then they both helped with the oatmeal, peanut butter, and vanilla part... along with the scooping, freezing, and eating part.) yum!

1st day of Preschool

All morning I have heard "First day of School! First day of School!" It was almost like I was listening to the sound track of Finding Nemo over and over. But today, it wasn't Nemo starting school, it was Melanie!

After I picked her up, I asked her what she learned, and she says "lots of stuff, but I don't remember it now" (What every mother wants to hear, right?) I asked her if she learned anything about the letter "Z", and then she got all excited. "Yeah! Z is for Zebra".
Here she is (after school) modeling the zebra mask she made. Isn't it cute?

Happy first day of school, Ms. Melanie, I love you!

Attacked by Hearts

We have slowly decorated our house for Valentines Day, but it will not enough. So yesterday, we threw it into overdrive.
Melanie really got involved in the decorating fun. First she mixed and kneaded some dough.
Rolled it out, and cut out hearts. Lots and Lots of hearts!
They baked for 2 hours, so we found other things to do. After the 2 hours were up, we PAINTED! (Isn't painting so much fun? We really should do it more often)
They are sit, drying.

Then (while Melanie was sleeping) mom hot glued them onto magnets and tacks. They are just too cute!
Now, all around our house there are hearts. On the Fridge, the doors, the cork board, etc, etc.

Yes, if you are wondering, we display artwork well after it's created. I think that polar bear has been on the front door since early December... but look how festive it looks next to those cute hearts.
Melanie also made these adorable butterflies. I love them! They are proudly displayed through out my house as well.

Much better!

Advice for Snow White

A few days ago, well after bed time, I walked past Melanie's door and noticed her sitting up in her bed struggling to do something. I came in and found her putting on her church shoes under the blankets. I told her she couldn't wear her shoes while she slept because if she accidentally kicked her leg, it would really hurt (her shoes had a little heel and it's a little sharp). She got a little upset and informed me that Snow White slept with her shoes on, and she wants to be a princess too. We decided that Princess Melanie could wear a pair of socks instead of shoes and it would work just fine.

Well, today is movie Friday, and I let her pick. She picked Snow White. At the end of the movie, Snow White was, sure enough, sleeping with her shoes on. Melanie got all bashful and whispered to me that she wanted to tell Snow White not to sleep with her shoes on. I told her to go ahead. She was so embarrassed, she said she wanted me to help her. Finally she got up the courage, walked up to the TV, and giggled/whispered to Snow White "You shouldn't wear shoes to bed, you could get hurt". Just then Snow White woke up to her prince Charming. Melanie was so happy she got to tell Snow White the lesson she learned. I wonder what will happen next time we watch and Snow White STILL has her shoes on. I suppose we'll find out next Friday.

To the Zoo, to the Zoo

We went to the zoo with cousins Grady and Lyla (and Aunt Amilee) Monday. We had SO much fun.

It was the first time we have been to the zoo were I let Noelle out to roam. I think she had a lot of fun experiencing the zoo this way!
The kids are too funny together. They are great friends.

Of course, once I let Noelle out of the stroller, she wasn't to fond of getting back in.

Thank you Farr Family for joining us at the zoo this week. We had a really good time.

I Scream for Ice Cream

Golly, you give these girls ice cream and crazy things start to happen. First, they make a mess (boy howdy)
Then they think they can put their feet on the table and lean back...
Finally, they try to give you sticky kisses. (gross!)

A Pair of Goggles...

Give my family a pair of goggles... and crazy things can happen.

I think my family has been taken over by green eyed lizzards. HELP!
Love you guys!
